Her work reinterprets traditional fine jewellery; Creating precious, playful pieces that play on the tempting, indulgent and enticing nature of jewels and gemstones.
Isla's whimsical pieces have won highly acclaimed awards; Including 'Best Design', awarded by Theo Fennell and a gold 'Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council Award'. Recently, Isla was also selected as one of International Jewellery London’s Bright Young Gems and shortlisted for one of the show's Leading Lights Awards.
Once upon a time, Isla’s Great Grandfather handcrafted a silver tiara; A beautiful filigree structure adorned with gems, albeit, not in the traditional sense; Bright, juicy ‘Jelly Tots’ proudly sat in place of the precious stones.
Half a century later, Isla revisits this notion...
Envisioning a world where contexts are blurred and delicious gemstones are too tempting to resist, Isla hand carves big juicy bite marks from an array of stones in her Somerset workshop.
Bitten bands highlighted with white rhodium, settings that appear to be twisted and falling flush set 'crumbs' further narrate stories of indulgence, temptation and devour.
Isla has created a wide range of bespoke Bitten Rings, including the Bitten Lapis Lazuli Ring with Sapphire Crumbs. CONTACT ISLA with your bespoke commission enquiries.
